At Sonshine Portraits, we strive for excellence in every image we produce and feel that our personal service is second to none. We pride ourselves on our "simple elegance" approach to portrait photography. We do not depend on props to enhance our images. We take the time to showcase and capture our subjects true personality in our images.

When you come to our studio for a portrait session, expect the unexpected. At many "chain" portrait studios, the photo session can be very stressful. Especially with babies and small children. You are rushed through the session and the results are often times mediocre at best. After the stress of the session, you are immediately shown your images and pressured to make your selections and purchase your portraits right then. Many times this leads to "emotional" buying and you purchase more than you need. The results of this are pictures that end up sitting in a drawer for a long time and eventually getting thrown away. Often times, these studios employ photographers that are trained in a months time and really don't know much about photography as a whole. Also, with the digital SLR becoming "smarter" and more commonplace, many people are trying their hand at photography selling inferior work at greatly reduced prices. Many times these "photographers" are not technically proficient with their gear or the art of processing images and many cases, produce "snapshot" quality results. At Sonshine Portraits, now in our 6th year in Lafayette, we are different. With over 30 years photography experience, we are masters at all types of photography. We know how to run our equipment and lighting to produce art that you will treasure. Not snapshots that are just "OK".

At Sonshine Portraits, our portrait sessions are usually booked no closer that 2 hours apart. This provides our clients with a stress free session and produces many image choices. We don't charge extra for clothing changes or extra people either. For example, for typical family portraits, we shoot the family together, we shoot the children together and separately, and we also shoot mom and dad as a couple. All in the same session with no extra fees. We don't "nickel and dime" you for extras. This way you get more choices of great images to display that are all from the same time period. Outdoor pictures are also included in our portrait sessions at no extra charge. We use a variety of outdoor locations in the area that produce outstanding results. We also do not charge a separate "sitting fee". Session fees are included in our package pricing. On the day of the portrait session, you pay nothing. We do not expect any payment until you have reviewed the results and you like what you see. That is our "Perfect Portrait Guarantee". You pay nothing unless you are thrilled with the results.

While we study the latest portrait trends and use the latest professional equipment to capture both modern and traditional portrait styles, our approach to marketing images is more "old school" style. After your portrait session, we schedule a image review session for you. This session is usually scheduled a couple days after your portrait session. At the review, you will have the chance to review the selected images from the portrait session in a pressure free, stress free environment. If you like what you see, you can make a selection from a variety of packages priced to suit every budget. Most sessions provide many image choices. With a package purchase, we can post your images in a password protected area of our web site where you can make your package choices from the comfort of your own home, in your own time. This also enables your friends and relatives to review your images. Of course, there is no extra charge to provide you with this added service.

We feature completely customizable portrait print packages. Our portrait packages are based on the sheet system which means you can get the print sizes you want. Our images are printed by one of the top professional portrait printers in the country and are usually ready within a week after we receive your order. Sometimes less. We use modern computer software techniques and calibrated hardware so that your images meet our exacting standards. With all images, you also have the choice receiving your prints in color, black & white, or other varied tints, at no extra charge.
