Founded in 2004, Sonshine Portraits has become one of the premier portrait studios in the north Georgia area. Conveniently located at the corner of Main and Villanow streets "on the square" in beautiful downtown Lafayette Georgia. A short drive for everyone from Chattanooga TN to Rome GA. Now in our 6th year of business, we strive for excellence in every image we produce and feel that our personal service is second to none. We pride ourselves on our "simple elegance" approach to portrait photography. We do not depend on props to enhance our images. We take the time to showcase and capture the true personality of our subjects in our images.

We feature completely customizable portrait print packages. Our portrait packages are based on the sheet system which means you can get the print sizes you want. Also, every print in your package can be of a different image. We don't lock you into large print packages all of the same image.

Sonshine Portraits is owned by me, John Dyar. I have been involved with photography since I was 12 years old when my father, also a photographer, put a fully manual Zeiss-Ikon Contaflex SLR in my hands. Now over 25 years later, I have chosen photography as my full time profession. Besides owning Sonshine Portraits, since 2001 I have also owned an event photography business called JD Photography. I am very, very proud of my action and sports photography. Current clients include the Georgia Junior Rodeo Association, the Georgia High School Rodeo Association and Dockdogs, just to name a few. I have also shot for the ESPN Great Outdoor Games and many local sporting events. My images have been published in many newspapers and publications including Dog & Handler Magazine, The New York Sporting News, Bark Magazine and many others.
